Hi All
Well, we made our trip to the Magic Kingdom. I made reservations for a
special occasion dinner at Cinderella's Palace, indicating that the
guest of honour was a 7 year old with CD. I called again 2 days in
advance and asked to communicate with the chef, as per advice in
previous posts. I was assured that I need not do that, and was was
provided with no way to insist on it.
We arrived to find out that while the reservation was flagged, no
preparations had been made. The rolls that were served (and put in
front of her) were with wheat. The chef did come out, but it was to ask
what he could substitute in a last minute kind of way. He suggested
substituting beef for the chicken fingers and not breading them, and
while not much "kid appeal", she agreed to that with mashed potatoes.
While this was presented to me as a substition, when the billed arrived
I had been charged more than twice the amount of the childs menu item.
I get really tired of having to pay such a premium for this food, and
resent not being told there would be such a change in price. I
expressed my frustration to the server, but altough he offered I didn't
pursue it for fear that next time there would be no substitution.
This is a bit of a rant, but further evidence we should take each
other's advice on the places wew've had successes. I wish I'd picked
one of the restaurants recommend in previous posts!
Despite this disappointment, it was a wonderful holiday and places like
the Conch House in St. Augustine ( I have no financial interest in this
place) more than restored my sense of community in seeking safe and
friendly restaurants for my daughter.
