To summarize, only three people wrote to say about a mal-rotated
intestinal tract. This may or may not be common among celiacs.
Only those who have had surgery probably realize that they have
this problem. As is noted below and was my case, one problem may
be a correct diagnosis of appendictis as it is usually in the wrong
place. Three other short stories are below if your interested:

I don't know if I have this--pretty good chance--about 35 years ago I had
an operation for apppendicitis and the doctors (military Hospital) said
that my appendix was on the wrong side--no explanation. I know I had a
huge scar incision , almost all the way across my abdoman. My son had the
same operation about 2 months later and only had an incision of about 2
inches,

I'm not sure if what I have is a 'mal-rotated intestine' I'm not familiar
with that term. But I do remember that when I had an upper GI done while
searching out my health problem, my doctor mentioned that if I ever came
down with appendicitis (sp?) I wouldn't know it because my appendix wasn't
in the 'normal' spot. Sounds mal-rotated to me!!

I found out 2 weeks ago my intestines were rotated and I have a hiatal
hernia. The GI specialist said these problems should not cause my symptoms.
I am self diagnosed as having permeable intestines.

Lynn:)
