Vinci on the Near North Side in Chicago has a gluten-free menu. I've attached a link to their website. It's expensive, but well worth the price if you like upscale Italian. http://www.vincichicago.com/

I would try Grace O'Malleys, Chicago Firehouse, Sullivan's Steakhouse, Keefer's, Fogo De Chao, Ben Pao, PF Chang's and you can call me if you need any further help. I have a group called the MetroCeliacs and we are a downtown group and supper club. Let me know price ranges and genres in the area you are going to be and I will help you the best I can. Check out www.metromix.com and click on restaurants and look up the ones I mentioned or email or call me about suggestions or things that sound
good online.

Try Maggiano's on Clark St. It is an Italian restaurant that serves gluten-free pasta. I had a wonderful meal there this summer. Just let the hostess know when you call for reservations, and they forward the info onto the server. The chef came out and discussed possible options with me, and ensured a gf meal.

Have you checked the archives? I know when my son has visited, he has
mentioned finding restaurant info in the archives very helpful. Two that I
recall are Wildfire and Da Lucianos (sp)?

www.wildfirerestaurants.com. Wildfire has several locations in Chicago and has a lovely gluten free menu and their staff if well trained in cc issues.

I compiled a small list a while ago, but here is some info, all located in the downtown River North area of Chicago. Most are located near an El stop, many restaurants are very accommodating. However, if you decide to cab it, just tell the driver the name of the restaurant and they'll get you there. Driving and parking is not ideal for most restaurants. Restaurants that offer a GF menu:
PF Chang's, Near Chicago and Grand Ave
Wildfire
Weber Grill, Near Chicago and Grand Ave
Adobo Grill, Old Town and Wicker Park (Better for Breakfast Brunch)
Vinci Restaurant, 1732 N Halsted, take Red Line to Clybourn, walk 4 blocks North on Halsted
DaLucianos in River Forest

I can enthusiastically recommend Da Luciano; 8343 W. Grand Ave.; River Grove, IL (708-453-1000). Since I'm not from the area I don't know how inconvenient that location is but it is worth an extra effort. www.dalucianos.com

Da Luciano is amazing. They have the best pasta, pizzas, yes pizzas, and (brace yourself) the best cookies EVER! Like real ones. The place is awesome, kind of a dive, but the food is amazing!!!!! You will LOVE it. It is worth the drive!

This is the best in the area, hand's down:

http://www.dalucianos.com/gluten-free-menu.cfm Out of the owner's seven children, four are celiac. They are pure Italian and know the GF diet very well.

Adoba Grill has 2 locations near downtown Chicago. Bring your own chips cause their guacamole is made tableside and is fabulous. The chips are not GF. They have a wonderful GF menu. Wildfire in downtown Chicago has a great GF menu. They are not open for lunch. Chipotle has many locations. We just ask the people who work behind the counter to change their gloves. Look up their GF menu on their website. Not right near the city but well worth the trip is DaLuciano's. It is a neighborhood Italian restaurant and pizza place . The owners have 4 celiac children so they are wondeful and have great GF italian food and pizza. They are in River Grove phone number 708-453-1000. Make a reservation cause it is a small place. Our absolute favorite GF place to eat, both the GF food and non GF food is fabulous.

I can recommend the Grand Luxe Cafe on North Michigan Avenue. Also, the Wildfire

has a gluten free menu and the food is outstanding.

You can try the Weber Grill Resaurant on State Street in downtown Chicago. They have a great gluten free menu. Their web address is webergrillrestaurant.com. I have not been there yet, I intend to go soon. I have heard wonderful things about their food.

One restaurant in particular is known for catering to the celiac crowd. They do keep gluten free pasta on hand. It is Vinci's Italian restaurant. Visit their website at: http://www.vincichicago.com I've noticed they now have a gluten free menu. The restaurant is a popular spot on N. Halstead, just a half block from the Steppenwolf
theatre.

You can go to PF Chang's for Asian. They also have a GF menu. Another Asian restaurant which is very familiar with celiac is Stir Crazy. The managers have an allergy card they carry so they can customize a dish with the right sauces and substitutions.

Any Big Bowl has a gluten free options, there is one downtown by Michigan Avenue. P.F. Changs on Wabash is one of my favorites, and there are a lot of health food stores and restaurants in the Lincoln Park area that are familiar with celiac. Vinci's on Halstead is great and call and check because they have some gluten free pasta and Outback Steakhouse.
