Regarding Lisa's comment that domestic wines are safe, but imported
wines might not be:
 
I would have more faith in French wine than American wine.  In
France , wine is a craft , not a business (well, it's that too, of
course.)  Also, French agricultural laws are very strict and the
government actually inspects to make sure they are followed.  Nothing
can be called wine unless it is actually that--from grapes.
 
I have a lot less faith in big American wine producers, Gallo, etc.
Small, quality wineries in any country should pose no problem
