I think the best place for me to share the celiac message is wherever
sick people gather looking for help. I belong to a fibromyalgia support
list with over 1,000 members. I post links to articles & my personal
experience with CD there as often as I can. I always add an invitation
to e-mail me privately for more information under my signature line.
When they respond, I send them a letter I wrote about CD that contains
basic information & links to helpful websites, including this list, of
course. I've gotten quite a few interested in investigating CD from my
postings. (Some have joined us on this list!)
I prefer the one-to-one approach myself. It fits my personal style
better than any mass media approach. I prefer to leave that kinda stuff
to people who don't mind the spotlight. I've learned to be patient &
adopt the "planting seeds" attitude. Once an idea has been planted into
someone's mind, it naturally needs time to grow & blossum. I add
nourishment & water for this little seed to grow from time to time with
little tidbits of information. It can take some people a year or more to
act on new information and even longer to commit themselves to a drastic
lifestyle change. I can remember well the three people from the
fibromyalgia list encouraging me to look into celiac disease. I think I
investigated the idea for about 9 months before I took action & got some
tests done & a few more weeks after testing to committ to the diet.
~Valerie in Tacoma, WA (If any of you would like a copy of the letter
I send out, let me know. If the response is large enough I'll include it
in my summary.)
