Yes I can relate to this Janet. I often find myself waking in the night with
numbness in my hands. The pattern is different to that I have expereinced
when lying on my arm and having the whole arm asleep. This numbness seems to
occur only on the little finger side of the hand also including the ring
finger, down the side of the palm and up to the elbow. Exactly as you
described I shake out the feeling and experience the tingling. The numbness
disappears in less than a minute but the tingling remains a few moments
longer. I have wondered whether this is a symptom of peripheral neuropathy,
as it has been suggested as a manifestation of CD and as a side effect of
dapsone usage, of which I have a long history. Strangely enough I have only
noticed this phenomenon since I have been totally GF (1 year) and dapsone
free (8 months).
Cheers
Roy
