In reply to your question about the barley in the caramel-flavored Quaker
Rice Cakes, I am sorry to say this celiac can confirm they definitely are
dramatically non-gf for me. I am newly diagnosed and still discovering
gluten sources in foods I formerly thought were safe. Recently I had a very
clean gf week, until I ate a bag of the caramel-flavored rice cakes from
Quaker. I was very sick, and puzzled until I re-read the ingredients list.
Anything with barley extract or malt is very bad for me.
Thanks to everybody who participates in this list. In the week and a half
since I joined, I have learned so much, and printed out a ream of information
to share with family members and friends who also are probably celiac.
