When our daughter has a gluten reaction, a significant and increasing
component of it is joint pain and stiffness. It started in the 5th
grade before she was diagnosed - she was learning to play the flute but
having problems because her joints would "stick." Now (at age 14) she
seems to be having more and more problems with her joints - they are
worse with gluten reactions, worse with her period, and there seems to
be some lesser joint sticking or pain other times as well. Last night
she ate Chinese food that must have used the wrong soy sauce because
today every joint in her body hurts and it limits her flexibility.

Is joint pain and stiffness a typical gluten reaction for any of you?
We are following up with a rheumatoid arthritis specialist, so I am not
relying on the expertise on this list for a diagnosis. Just curious.
Her joints don't seem to be swollen, just painful and stuck. Also, if
you have this type of condition, what helps?

Thanks.
