Hi Everyone,

I am 41 and diagnosed with cd about 4 years ago. I just recently had my first bone density scan because of reading how cd can result in bone loss.

My results came in low, but not osteoporosis. For those who might be familiar with bone density results, I came in at 1.5 standard deviations below peak bone mass.

I am looking for any medical references to bone density in particular, in relation to celiac disease. It is possible to regain bone mass at my age? Will being gf prevent any further bone loss? Will increasing calcium and exercise at my age be enough to prevent this from going into osteoporosis at a later age?

Does anyone, especially women, have any experience with decreased bone densities as well? Have your results stayed the same, or improved over time? I am particularly concerned because I am young for such a decreased bone mass.

Thanks for any help anyone can provide!! I will summarize responses.

Christine
