Hi Listmates,

My husband was diagnosed with GERD before he was diagnosed with celiac
disease. He has been taking prilosec for probably five years. He has
been GF for over two years now and we were wondering if he should still
be taking prilosec or if probiotics and a digestive enzyme would be a
better choice. We discussed this with our GI, but like most doctors,
he prefers medicine to natural choices.

It seems like I read several posts about this subject in the past, but a
search of the archives didn't really help. I seem to remember that one
of the posts mentioned an article which stated that a person should not
be taking prilosec type drugs for an indefinite period of time.

Does anyone have any information regarding this that they could share?
What about experiences in switching from proton pump inhibitors to
probiotics and enzymes?

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Our sincere thanks to all of you -- you are a great resource.
