This is the text of an email that I sent today to United Airlines: I'll be
interested in the reply (if any):

>I had requested a gluten free meal for this flight. The flight attendant
>brought me a box with a card that said, "We have prepared this GLUTEN FREE
>CODE 7772 ESPECIALLY for you."
>
>In case you don't know it, if "gluten free" means ANYTHING, it means NO
>WHEAT PRODUCTS.
>
>So I opened the box and what did I find? A box of WHEATIES!
>
>I though it pretty funny that you gave someone who could not eat wheat
>products a bowl of Wheaties for breakfast with a card that said it was
>prepared ESPECIALLY for them!
>
>I have to say that your flight crew went out of its way to get me
>something I could digest. But I was also told that the situation would be
>reported to customer service, that United took these kinds of errors
>seriously, and that I would be hearing from you. It's been a month and I
>haven't.
>
>Wheaties is obvious. But what if you gave someone with serious celiac
>disease something less obvious? And she ate it relying on your statement
>that the alleged GF meal was prepared 'especially" for her?
>
>I have forwarded this to an email list dedicated to people with this
>disease. I am sure they will be as interested in your response as I.
