I have CD, leaky gut syndrome, lactose intolerance, candida albicans (yeast
overgrowth), allergy to mold and some other stuff, and some arthritis. I've
been on a severely restricted diet for about 6 weeks, and I feel MUCH better.
I've just joined the list, and I'd love to exchange support about these pesky
problems. Does anyone else have all or many of them? Even though I'm
healthier, some days are hard. How about you?
My restrictions and (wicked strict) diet follow.

For my situation, I've been told not to eat wheat, gluten, fruit and fruit
juice (moldy and the sweetness encourages yeast), mushrooms, nightshade
vegetables that bother my joints (potatoes do, alas, although my doctor said
to try them without skin), milk, cheese, yogurt (gives me cramps), mushrooms,
processed foods, yeast, sugar or honey or any other sweetener whether natural
or refined, coffee, tea, soda, chocolate, dry spices (mold in them), and
alcoholic beverages.

What's left? Water, rice, corn and most vegetables, seafood, meat
(occasional), nuts, seeds, beans, and helpful oils (olive, sesame, flax,
etc.) I'm eating slightly processed foods (am I bad?) like rice cakes, rice
pasta, almond butter, plain corn flakes and corn chips, and hummos (my main
snack food along with my own blend of nuts and seeds). These have been
approved by my nutritionist. She also suggested trying buckwheat (caused
discomfort) and quinoa (appear to tolerate well, but I hear it's
controversial).

I'm told that, when my system is healthier, I'll be able to try reintroducing
some of the no-nos. I've lost 10 pounds but my current weight is fine and has
been stable for a couple of weeks. I've fallen off the wagon a few times by
eating some heavenly Pamela's GF chocolate chip cookies (no-nos: sweetener,
chocolate, processing) and drinking Rice Dream (delicious milk substitute
that unfortunately uses barley in processing, gluten: 5 parts per billion).
