Somebody asked for a summary on my question about whether people are aware
of barley or rye being hidden in other ingredients.

Nobody who wrote had heard of rye being hidden.

One person said that barley was sometimes hidden in "flavors" in chicken
broth but no specific example was given.

Most people who wrote told me that barley is hidden in malt or malt
flavoring. I guess I never considered this "hidden" because I've always
thought of barley when I read or heard "malt" (even though any grain can be
malted) and I've always known (even when I was new at this) to avoid
something with malt or malt flavoring in it. I suppose that some people who
are new do not know this.
