Hi all-

We had an experience at Franklin & Marshall College yesterday that I
just had to share. We were dropping my non-celiac daughter off for a
3 week camp there - we had made arrangements to drop off some
nutritional/proteins drinks that require refrigeration so that my
daughter could have them during her stay. Not only was the kitchen
staff incredibly on top of things, beyond words accommodating and
welcoming, but as they were telling me it's no big deal, they
actually used Celiac as an example. They have a dedicated toaster in
the back for gluten free stuff, they totally get cross contamination
issues, more than at any restaurant I have ever been, they have one
staff person prepare the gluten free meals and keep them in the
kitchen until the student comes for it and they all are
knowledgeable, know who the kids with celiac and other food issues
are and watch closely to make sure they aren't accidentally taking
food from an area that may not be gluten free. The director felt
this was the wave of the future and that before long, there will be
dedicated gluten-free lines in the dining hall.

I was just so impressed and relieved and hopeful - and we weren't
even there for anything to do with celiac. When my other daughter
with celiac is ready to head to college, F & M will definitely be on
the top of our list of places to check out!

I was just so excited...had to share! :)
