I got many responses about celiac and thyroid.

Seems there are a lot of us out there with gluten sensitivity and thyroid
problems.

The sad news is, although many people reported that gluten free helped, and
in some cases reduced their synthroid or other medication, no one reported a
complete recovery from thyroid problems on a gluten free diet. No one stated
that he or she was able to discontinue their thyroid medication completely.

On a pet list, some owners report that their dogs recovered their thyroid
function completely on a species specific diet. This would be a
gluten/grain/cereal free diet but in addition a species specific diet for
dogs would also be raw meat, raw organs, raw bones and raw veggies in small
amounts.

I don't know any human who has done a similar species specific diet for
humans who also had thyroid problems. In fact, I know only one human who is
doing a completely species specific diet but he does not have hypothyroid.

I am interested in anyone who has gone species specific which would exclude
all gluten but in addition would include only natural meats (pasture fed)
and who also have recovered their thyroid function on such a diet.

I had 3 out of 4 responses where the celiac person wrote me and said they
could feel a reaction from grain fed meat and did much better on grass fed
meats.

Awhile back, I had a 99% yes! response from mothers who said that celiac
babies react if the mother eats gluten, the gluten gets into the breast milk.

I am also wondering if a cow or sheep eats grain and gluten, does it get
into its tissues? I read that gluten/grains are an unnatural diet for cattle
and sheep and then their immune system starts acting up and it is possible
this immune response could affect their meat??

Does anyone know??
