Hi All,

Before my CD was diagnosed at age 34, I had been affected all my life
with atopic allergy, including intense hay fever, asthma and eczema
reactions to a wide range of allergens - mainly dust acarians, pollens
and certain foods (eggs, fish, nuts, many fruits, etc.). To give an idea
of the levels of these allergies, I have a 2000 grade as far as acarians
are concerned.

After 4 years of gluten-free diet, both my reactions to gluten and to my
usual allergens have substantially evolved. Here is what I notice:

- My reaction to gluten has changed: 4 years ago, and until recently,
when I ingested gluten, I had violent gut reactions, as is usual with
CD. Since a few months, when I happen to accidentally ingest gluten, I
have less and less a tract reaction, and more and more a skin reaction
(eczema), just as I do when I have a food allergy.

- As far as my food allergies are concerned, I have become less
sensitive to certain allergens (basically, it takes a greater amount to
make me sick). As for symptoms, they remain of the same kind: eczema (no
DH so far, although I do have occasional lip herpes).

The problem I am experiencing here is obviously to be at the crossroads
of different medical disciplines (gastro-enterology, allergology and
dermatology) so that it is difficult to find competent advice.

Has anyone in the list, doctor or patient, been confronted to such kind
of situation? I will highly appreciate any input.

Many thanks in advance
