During our August trip to Alaska, my granddaughter and I purchased children's (souvenir) clothing and nail polish at Del Sol stores. These products change color in the sun. Out of curiosity, I wrote to the company to ask if their products were gluten-free, considering children could put them in their mouths, especially if the child is a nail-biter. This is the response I got.

In copying and pasting the email, the margins got somewhat messed up, but you should be able to read the content. Lin

Hello Linda,

Thank you for your interest in our products! I am sorry you did not receive a reply to your previous letter and I am glad that your letter of October 4, 2008, was directed to my attention. Here is the info you asked about:

1. Gluten - I can assure you that all of our nail polish products are 100% gluten free.

2. Textile/T-Shirt Ink - The ink used on our textiles is completely cured through polymerization; this is the case with all of our textile items, including the t-shirts. This process makes it so that none of the ingredients of the ink can be absorbed. Moreover, the ingredients in the ink are among the safest used in the textile industry. The shirts are completely safe to wear as often as for as long as you wish.

3. Nail Polish with Young Children - Having sold several million bottles of nail polish without any reports of any problems, the short answer would be; "Yes, our nail polish products are completely safe!" On the other hand, the age of the child may be of some concern. If the child is a very young toddler, I might be concerned because they often have their fingers in their mouth up to a certain age (at least, this has been the case with each of my children). This is not to say that it would be harmful but I think under the right (wrong?) circumstances there may be some possibility of some kind of reaction.

4. Allergic Reactions - Since we have had no reports of allergic reactions we do not yet have a database of same.

Also, we test all of our products for any lead content, or any other harmful ingredients to be sure that they are all as safe as possible!

Thanks again for your interest and please reply directly to me via email should you have other questions or concerns.

Best Regards,

Jeff Liechty
