I recently posted our problem --- my son was taking Source Naturals Magnesium Chelate (he has taken more than 500 tablets) . The new bottles have a sticker on the cap that reads 'contains wheat', but the back of the bottle still reads gluten and wheat free. I have had several phone conversations today with Source Naturals and iherb.com who filled my order. It turns out the sorbitol in the tablets consist of partly corn and partly wheat and there is 23.9% sorbitol in the tablet- about 1/4 of the tablet. I am sick about it. My son has been going downhill recently after fully recovering 6 years ago and eats mostly living foods. We are so careful. Source Naturals doesn't even know what is in their supplements-- they have to call their supplier to find out. They have been labeling most of their supplements gluten-free that are not! You have to call on each one to find out because there is old stock out there. Only fresh stock has the stickers on the cap.
Two others on our Celiac List reported very serious ongoing problems with the SN B Complex--- the orange flavor contains wheat-- the peppermint flavor does not. Another reported her new bottle of calcium has the 'contains wheat' sticker also. Checking on the www.iherb.com site I see several other supplements that now read 'contains wheat' HOWEVER the magnesium chelate still does not read 'contains wheat' in the product info! Please let everyone know that sorbitol can come from wheat. Products may be labeled GF that are not. and we may need to check on every product labeled sorbitol to find out the source. The fact that sorbitol can contain wheat was news to me. Perhaps this has been established but I have never come across it before. Helen Hecker R.N.
