I heard some very exciting news as I was driving into work today. As
some of you may know, Rich Gannon, quarterback for the Oakland Raiders
and former Quearterback for the Kansas City Chiefs has a three year old
daughter with Celiac Disease. From what I heard on the radio this
morning, he is teaming up with the University of Maryland to promote
awareness of our disease. He will be doing Public Service Announcements
in order to promote awareness of the disease (and I assume to help get
participants for the U of Maryland study) The radio program even
mentioned that the latest numbers for the prevelance of CD is nearly at
1 in 150. I think this is very exciting, and I hope it is only the
beginning of an increase in publicity and awareness of Cd.
