Didn't really want to go into this as so many people scoff at my
reactions, but I have had so many people asking why dentists have
refused to work on me that I figured I'd post this to the list.

My extremely atypical response to gluten includes anaphylaxis and
convulsions.  Yes - I know that most people will claim this is not a
celiac reaction for various and sundry reasons.  However ... that is
how I have reacted for the past 9 years - with my first 5 being
typical celiac reactions.

No - it is not a gluten allergy ....I have been tested for that.  I
was told by a doc at University of Chicago - Michael Sitrin - that
what I have is a rare but documented response.

Anyway - when a dentist hears anaphylaxis - they see malpractice
suits and all kinds of horrible things happening if they treat me.  I
try to reassure them that if everything used is confirmed to be GF,
that there will be no problems.  However, I get passed from person to
person.  Even the U of C avoided working on me.  I have contacted
dentists that work out of hospitals, etc to no avail.

After having almost died from the severe reactions, I take gluten
ingestion VERY seriously.  And please .... no posts telling me I
can't/don't/or shouldn't react this way to gluten.  I wish to God I
didn't.  But .... I do.
