I think you might enjoy this.

While trying to find out the ingredients from my favorite salad dressing
the other day, the manufacturer (International Diverse Foods, Nashville,
TN) told me there was "No way I could eat the salad dressing because it
contained MUSTARD FLOUR." I thought, weird, and went on. Thinking that
the person had no idea what they were talking about I called a few days
later and talked to a different person. They, too, said that the
mustard contained gluten. So I asked where the mustard came from and
they said "French's". I called French's. The technical person that I
spoke to was SUPER NICE and assured me that there was NO GLUTEN in
mustard.

One more interesting note - I also called the vinegar suppliers for the
dressing as well as the vinegar head honcho at French's. ALL THREE
chemists said they used synthetic products during distillation so their
vinegar was gluten free. However, all three of them said they had
chemical proof that, even if they used a grain to distill the vinegar,
there was NO WAY that gluten would pass into the final product.

I'm not saying that all vinegar is gf, but they say all vinegar is, and
they say they have the papers to prove it (all three of them). I told
them about all of the people who say that certain vinegars bother them.
There responses were that vinegar was nothing but acidic acid, it is
going to bother many peoples gut, even those without celiac disease.
Or, mabye it is something else in the product that is bothering the
person.

In the United States the suppliers were:
French's - 417.831.1592
National Vinegar - 618.465.6532
Indian Summer (vinegar) - 931.484.0285

(ask for someone in R&D, or technical services)

Interesting? Obviously, if you don't agree simply don't eat those foods
which bother you. If you are interested, try giving one of the chemists
a call.
