Dear Readers,
Following is a summary of my question about how long does it take after
ingesting gluten to have a reaction:

I had about 20 replies and the typical time was four to five hours. Some were
as long as 24 hours and it usually took several days to return to normal. A
few, like myself never really came back to pre allergy days but certainly
more tolerable than 7 or 8 BM's a day with a few pounds weight loss. I find
that even when I have been gluten free I have to stay near the bathroom most
of the morning and in the afternoon I am confident to leave the house.
Another strange observation is that the majority of replies were from women.
All very congenial in their email to me and wanting to help if possible. LP
