Thank you for the responses, and best of luck to those of you who

responded for a summary and were asking the same question I was.

1) Proper maternal nutrition is needed for a fully functioning body. I would guess that your body will "protect" itself from a pregnancy that wouldcompromise it's health by "stealing" nutrients needed by Mom. The proper hormones to support pregnancy may not be produced.

2)I have been diagnosed since 1968, am a classic case of CD, have lost 2 15" segments of my small intestine and have studied the food industry inside and out. They still find ways of poisoning me. My advantage is that thesmallest amount affects me and still, as late as 2001, I discovered that Nature's Path cereal with a GF banner on it had not tested for a period of a year, I found that out because I filed a formal complaint with the FDA. I can only suggest that if you have not studied assiduously about food and medications, one can never be sure that one is GF. Double and Triple Check and exercise plenty since it seems to help. My daughter had a problemgetting pregnant and wouldn't get tested. I finally told my son inlaw and within the year she was pregnant.

3) According to all I have read, infertility rates in celiacs and nonceliacs are the same if you are following the gf diet. It is untreatedceliacs that are the problem. One would have to assume from generalmalnutrition that an untreated celiac is not "fit" for pregnancy. Ibelieve it accounts for about 1% of infertility cases. Stay positive and gf and you will do great!

4) The problem with gluten is that it can diminish the function of any organ in the body. It can affect the neurological systems and cause ADD, Autism andSchizophrenia etc.It can affect the skin: DH; Addisons, ecxema etc.It can affect the lymph nodes: Lymphoma etc. It can affect the blood system; Anemia etc.It can affect the intestine as you know.............................. and so on. My guess is that it can also affect the reproductive system; (I hadirregular mentruation when I was young) and it can result in infertility, and anemia

5)I don't know why or how Celiac plays a part in infertility. I have beentrying to get pregnant for the past 2 and one half years. I was diagnosed with Celiac only 10 months ago. As a result of my undiagnosed Celiac Ibecame very malnourished and anemic. However now that I am following the GF diet and being treated by a hematologist my blood work is all normal now. But my husband and I went to a fertility specialist and I had a few tests done which led to having laproscopic surgery and they found out that mytubes were blocked except for a tiny opening (which no egg would of ever been able to get through) Also the doctor found it interesting that I did not have any cilia on the ends of my fallopian tubes (that helps sweep the egg into the tube) He said that was related to Celiac. However he did have some encouraging news and told me that 2 of his patients were Celiac and that they were able to concieve on their own. However it's been 6 months from the surgery and still no luck. We are
considering and looking intoinvitro and will start that process in June.

6)I am in the process of being tested for endometriosis. From my understanding from my obgyn, he sees endometriosis in quite a number of the patients he has that he knows are celiacs. I do not know if there is an actual link or if this is just something he has noticed w/in his patients, but I find it quite interesting.

7)Some intersting articles someone reffered me to.
