Thank you for all the replies. This list is wonderful. I've summarized
the responses below with regard to the GF status of Mrs. Butterworth.
Due to the varying degree of responses, I thought some of you would be
interested - many use this syrup with no probs and others indicated it's
NOT GF based on hidden barley in the natural flavoring. Based on such,
I will be staying away from this in the future and going with pure maple
syrup as many of you suggested. Thanks again!

Summary comments:
I have been eating Mrs. Butterworth's Original throughout my gluten free
life (about 18 months now). I probably wouldn't have symptoms in any
case, but my small intestine fully healed in 1 year and my lab work has
always been excellent. I don't know where I found it (the most recent
info I could run across just now was 2004) but it is on a list of gf
foods I accumulated early on. My son (also celiac -- recently diagnosed)
eats the syrup as well so please let us know if we have to change syrup.
The company will not tell you if it has gluten in it. I've asked.
They're very evasive. Labels nowadays will have "wheat" list on the
label if it's in the product but not any other ingredient like barley or
malt. My suggestion would be to use a "pure" maple syrup that is just
syrup with no additives.
Not GF, last time I checked.
My Mrs. Butterworth's lite has malted barley in it. That means it is a
no-no. Barley is a grain with gluten. Aunt jemima Lite has no such
ingredient in it, which is what I use.
Mrs. Butterworth is all my daughter wants on her pancakes and waffles.
She is pretty sensitive to gluten but has never had a problem.
Don't know about Mrs. Butterworth's but we do eat Aunt Jemima Original
with no problems.

I contacted them almost 2 years ago and they said that there was gluten
(barley) in the natural flavoring. Aunt Jemima and Kellogg's Eggo Syrup
are both GF.
It's fake food, but the last I checked it was gluten free. If you use
real maple syrup, there is nothing to worry about. It contain maple
syrup and nothing else.
I do not know the anwer to Mrs. Butterworth's status, but Aunt Jemima
and Vermont Maid syrups are both GF. (Vermont Maid says gluten free
right on the bottle!)
