Be sure to read longer more detailed info postings which I forwarded to
list. Thanks again for all your help.

Several people said it's taken a long time GF for them to feel much
better--3 mos. to 1 year.

They emphasized scrupulous GF diet, avoiding cross contamination and hidden
gluten sources like certain meds, supplements, inhalers and some tea bag
adhesives

Since years of gluten messes up the villi in our small intestines, many
celiacs can't digest other foods like dairy, soy, corn, soda pop,
chocolate, etc. Lactose intolerance is especially common and can cause gas.
Taking a lactose enzymes prior to dairy can help. Some have trouble with
tomatoes, potatoes, chocolate, sugar, dried fruit. Treating candida may be
important. Food diaries and elimination diets starting with rice and lamb
or chicken, then slowly adding other foods while noting symptoms can be
helpful. Vitamins and supplements can be hard to digest. Gas and food
allergies are common for some celiacs.

Diet in "Food and Gut Reaction" by Elaine Gottshall can be helpful.
Better Health USA does food allergy tests with # mo. guarantee of money
back if no improvement. 1-800-684-2231. www.betterhealthusa.com

Gas X helps gas. Pancreatic enzymes, L glutamine before meals and for
inflammation and probiotics were recommended. Twin Labs' Allerdophilus
(combination of acidophilus and psyllium) taken with lots of water helps
constipation and diahrea. M.O.M helps constipation. Aloe vera juice helps
heal gut lining.

Local support groups and celiac support group forum (http://www.delphi.com)
and www.celiac.com recommended. Archives on this list are great resource.

Important to have gastro Dr. with expertise in celiac. Get copies of lab
work. Ask Dr. if I have eosinophil gastroenteritis which may require
steroid for inflamation. TTG stands for tissue transglutaminase test which
is new and more specific and sensitive than traditional antibody blood
tests. One needn't test positive to be unable to digest gluten. One person
recommended enteroscopy for clearer diagnosis. Another recommended
endoscopy starting in throat, duoduem and on down about 56 snips and send
to lots of labs. 2 others diagnosed gluten intolerant on stool or saliva
test.
