I used to think that the mid afternoon heavy-wet-blanket slump was caused by
"hypoglycemia," because I would sometimes perk up after having a snack,
especially if I ate a few nuts. Then I heard about the salt
deficiency/adrenal fatigue thing. I tried drinking salted water in the
mornings & voila! No more profound afternoon slumps! It does work
incredibly fast, too. The reason the snacks sometimes worked is because
most snack foods contain salt. I can now usually prevent that slump by
starting my day with 1/4 teaspoon salt in 24 ounces of water. Keeps me
perky all day most days. If the day is warm, I may need another bottle in
the middle of the day. (I live in a mild, cool climate. If I lived in New
Mexico, I'd probably need 4 or 5 salted 24 ounce water bottles a day!)

Once I went shopping after I worked out at the gymn. I forgot to bring
along my salted water bottle, so I drank plain water at the gymn. After
about an hour, I felt tired, but just kept going. I suddenly felt my legs
get weak & the store started spinning. I somehow managed to drag myself to
the in-store snack bar & ask for a glass of water & some salt. I nearly
inhaled about 18 ounces of very salty water. It tasted so, SOOO good. I
soon felt stronger and was able to resume my shopping for another hour.

Some of you may say, it was just the water that perked me up. I say "no"
based on my experiences. I used to drink bottle after bottle of plain water
all day long. I was always thirsty, always running to the bathroom & had
dry cracked lips & skin no matter how much water I drank. After I started
salting my water, my skin & lips got smoother and I found myself much less
thirsty. And, best of all, the salted water does a good job preventing
that mid afternoon slump.
