Just wanted to point out that lactose is in ALL mammalian milk. Including goat milk. Mouse milk. Human milk. Whale milk. etc.. etc...

I believe the reason that goat milk is considered desirable and easy to digest is because the ratio of lactose to protein is more similar to human milk, and because the proteins in goat milk are easier for the stomach/intestines to break down. Human milk contains a much higher amount of lactose than cow milk (about 7.4% vs 4.7%), but goats milk contains almost as much lactose as cow milk. (4.1% vs 4.7%).

A baby cow doubles its birth weight in less than 2 weeks and also has a much more solid skeleton than humans (who double theirs in about 6 months). Hence cow milk is much higher in protein and phosphorus and sodium than human milk.

Here are a couple references.

So if you drink goats milk only to avoid lactose, you are pretty much wasting your time. However, if you drink it and find it helps you feel healthier, then cheers!
