I first learned of CD off the no-milk list over a month ago. I now read
everything I can find on it, from practically every GET CELIAC file and every
other site any of you recommend. I've got several autoimmune disorders and
my list of 'unusual' just keeps growing: Lifelong dry scaly skin, allergies
to mold, dust, cat, cold urticaria, etc. Tonsillectomy, emergency c-section
for preeclampsia, HELLP syndrome, and Hashimoto's thyroiditis.
Pancreatitis(I don't drink), and adult onset asthma. I now have symptoms of
rheumatoid arthritis and for the past two years have had obvious and
sometimes embarassing problems with my digestion even though I ate
'healthier' than anyone around me. I've had procedures and blood tests
looking for anything from parasites to cancer, but not for the unheard of CD.
In two weeks I'll have my first appointment with a GI specialist and will
request the biopsy for CD. I am awaiting the consent form from the U of
Maryland to participate in their research. I am taking these tests in hopes
that positive results will benefit everyone. I will remove gliadin from my
diet regardless of the test results. I read that if I let you know I am here
some of you will send me more info. I'd be most appreciative for any advice.
 Thanks, Susan in Dallas
