Minneapolis/St. Paul, Minnesota is getting ready to Walk for Celiac
Research.

On Saturday, May 17th, hundreds of us will go to Boom Island in
Minneapolis to raise money and awareness for celiac disease. The walk is
just over three miles with beautiful views of the Mississippi River and
the downtown Minneapolis skyline. At this year’s walk there will be lots
of gluten-free food for everyone to enjoy. Oakland Raiders’ quarterback
and 2002 NFL MVP Rich Gannon is also scheduled to attend. Rich’s daughter
Danielle has celiac disease. The kids can enjoy balloons, face painting
and meet Ronald McDonald!

Registration for the walk is free! It begins at 9:00 a.m. and can be done
the day of the event, or you can get more information at
www.celiacwalk.org. The walk begins at 10:00 a.m. There will be an area
to drop off financial donations. Donations will go to the University of
Maryland-Baltimore’s Center for Celiac Research. There will be an
information table with details about support groups in the area and the
Gluten-Free Fun Camp for kids that will take place August 5-8, 2003 in
Minnesota. Walk t-shirts will be available to purchase. After the walk,
numerous door prizes will be awarded.

Last year at our first walk, we had 340 people attend and we raised more
than $34,000—the most money raised of any celiac walk nationwide! This
year we hope to make it bigger and better. Please join us for this family
fun-filled event on Saturday, May 17th. Please feel free to contact me
with any questions.
