I asked for help regarding my mother's leg pain. She has been gf for only a
few weeks and the main problem she still has is pain in one leg when she does
anything slightly strenuous. The pain is not in the knee but the leg itself.
The pain is slowly getting better.
Many people responded. Several suggested that she still might be eating
some gluten. I wouldn't be surprised since she is so new to the diet and I
only see her about once a week.
Several suggested vitamin and calcium supplements. She does take multi-
vitamins and cal-mag supplements but I will check out the tri-boron that was
suggested.
A few said it took months for their leg pain symptoms to go away.
A few said her doctor needs to rule out other problems such as circulation
problems. If her pain doesn't continue to improve, I will do what I can, but
my mother likes her doctor even though I have doubts about her medical talents
based on her knowledge of cd.
Someone suggested eating gelatin. I will mention that to my mother. It
seems she used to do that and she felt better.
A couple of people said that low iron levels caused their leg pain. I will
definitely follow up on that. My mother had a lot of tests in the hospital so
I will find out if they checked her iron.
I appreciate all of the responses. I am lucky that my mother finally
decided to go on the diet on her own without her doctor's diagnosis. It is so
upsetting when you have relatives that have definite celiac symptoms that
either refuse to get tested or have doctors that won't encourage them to be
properly tested.
   Thanks again,
