A few weeks there was a post on this list regarding gas-x softgels. The
poster had called the company (Novartis) and was told that gas-x was NOT
GF.  The ingredients listed on the box are: Active - Simethicone;
Inactive - blue1, gelatin, glycerin, peppermint oil, red 40, sorbitol,
titanium dioxide, water, yellow 10. Since these all look GF to me I
also called the company. Spoke to Shirley in customer service (800
548-3708). She confirmed that the product is listed as NOT GF but did
not know where the gluten came from. She sent my inquiry to the
research desk. I heard back from her today stating that the research
dept. says all the ingredients are GF. She does not know why it is
listed as not GF. Apparently that decision is made by their business
dept and customer service does not have access to them.

So, another dilemma. It's probably prudent not to use this product
unless you can determine why the company lists it as NOT GF. Shirley
said this could be a mistake, but she wasn't sure. Maybe if a few more
people call them they will be motivated to figure out if this product is
GF and list it appropriately.

Just thought I would pass on this info. Pamela
