Seeing recent ads for gluten free Chex Oatmeal, I found it in my local
(Connecticut, USA) grocery store. The labeling indicates that it is
tested to be gluten free (maybe less than 10 PPM?), but does not
indicate that certified gluten free oats are used. Between the strict
procedures I have read that are used for GF certification of raw oats,
and the lack of specificity on the Chex Oatmeal label as to what test is
used for the finished product gluten content, I will not be adding this
product to my diet. I have had great success with products made with
Certified GF oats. After my celiac diagnosis about 20 years ago, it took
me several more years to truly learn to maintain a gluten free diet, and
this is one precaution I will take. Thoughts?
