For those of you looking for a safe milk substitute, here is a
discussion I had with Abersold Foods regarding Vance's Dari-free. The
discussion makes the most sense if you read it from the bottom up. :-)
Miss Roben's carries this product, and I recently purchased the powdered
form, since I don't use enough dairy substitute to finish a tetra pak of
anything before it goes off. Those of you on a lguten free diet and
avoiding dairy, soy and corn, may find this product useful. If you have
any further questions, please don't ask me, but click on "Information at
A&A..." next to the From: just below this message. That will enable you
to write them directly. All the information I have is here in this
discussion.

Hope this helps someone else,

(of course, I have no financial interest in Miss Robens or Abersold!)

Dear Eliyanah -

I did find out some more information regarding the product . . . to our
knowledge none of the vitamins in DariFree are derived from gluten,
corn, soy, or dairy. It is always good to have the product checked to
ensure your health . . . our product is certified gluten and dairy-free
and we recently received Kosher certification. In regards to the
vitamins and lactic acid . . . our suppliers told us that they do not
contain any of the specified ingredients and we have never had a
complaint.

Sincerely,

Abersold Foods

So can you tell me if any of those vitamins are derived from gluten,
corn, soy or dairy?

I have also recently read that lactic acid can be derived from corn.
Do you know the source of yours?

Thank you for your amazingly quick reply! :-)

The difference between Whyte's DariFree and Vance's DariFree is the
fact that Whyte's DariFree was produced for sale in Canada and it does
not have any vitamin fortification (due to restrictions enforced in
Canada by the government). Vance's DariFree is the same product as
Whyte's DariFree but it includes the vitamin fortification that is
allowed to be placed in the product in the United States.

      Hi,
I have celiac disease, and I can see from your web-site that
your product should be fine for this. However, I also cannot tolerate
any soy, corn or dairy (in any form casein, lactose, etc.). I had
verified that a product here in Canada called Whyte's Dari-Free was
safe. I didn't realise when I purchased Vance's Dari-free from Miss
Roben's that it was a different product.

Can you tell me if Vance's Dari-Free is safe for me to use,
that is, free from wheat, rye, oat, barley, corn, soy and all milk and
their derivatives?

          Thank you.
