Hi,

Thanks to all who replied to my request for GF hams. I decided to go
with a Pork Roast instead less stress. I called the Honey Baked Ham
Co. in Nashua NH and the woman who answered quickly responded that their
Ham was GF and MSG free and that someone had called earlier to inquire.
After she took my order for the ham, she tried to persuade me to buy a
dessert, like cheesecake, cake, etc. A bell went off in my head and I
asked her if she knew what GLUTEN is? She said, "yes, it's SALT"! I
said no, it's not. She said, "Well, it's still GF, I asked about earlier
when someone else called." I asked to speak with the Mgr. who informed
me that while the Ham is GF, they honey glaze that's on it is NOT! He
offered to try to find one that had not been glazed. I declined and
told him that I wouldn't trust purchasing a ham from him at this point
and that he needed to educate the woman that answered the phone -- it's
dangerous to give misinformation.

I also called my local meat house and they told me that their ham has
HVP (hydrolyzed vegetable protein) and MSG, so I'll just stick with a
pork roast with cornbread/sausage/sage stuffing and fried potatoes. YUM!

Thanks again to all who replied!

Happy Holidays & Happy Spring!

Here are the replies:
=======
Hormel cure 81,Hormel black label canned ham(throw away any glaze
packets) and Smithfield hams are GF. It is usually good not go get any
that are preglazed as this seems to be the curprit.
=======
We have bought Ridge Creek hams at Sam's twice before, and I had no
reaction. We are buying another one today.

We always discard the topping packet, although the ingredients sound OK.
=======
Smithfield is GF. We have it often.
=======
I don't know about that brand, but I called Thornapple Valley a couple
months ago and the man sounded extremely knowledgable about CD. I asked
him is he knew what gluten really was, as some reps. will say something
like, "So they ingredient you are looking for is what? Spell it." He
said he did know and asked if I had CD. He claims that all of
their products are GF. I have had their ham many times with no
reaction. I'm not sure if they have spiral cuts, but thought you might
find this helpful.
========
If you don't mind, left me know what your replies are to this?
