Well, this post is to confirm that Udi's 30 oz. loaf is available at
most Costco stores, and at ~$6.50 per loaf, we are getting nearly twice
the bread (21 cents per ounce) compared to ~$5.00 for the smaller 12 oz.
loaf (41 cents per ounce). If your Costco doesn't carry it, request it,
and make some noise. It has been noted by one respondent that we should
inspect the loaves carefully before purchasing, because they may be
'broken'--that is the giant air pockets that sometimes form in the
center of the loaf can make the bread unusable. So caveat emptor! I am
delighted to have access to this grown-up sized bread. I bought some
today, and hence my report.

Another respondent told me that Cheesecake Factory carries the BIG Udi's
hamburger buns, and that we can now order a GF mushroom burger in all
its glory with no worries. I can't wait to try this.

And yet another respondent tipped me off to a new bread, a very healthy
version from a newish company called Three Bakers (
http://threebakers.com/ ) who feature some good products that hold
together and taste great. I just bought the 7 Ancient Grains variety,
and love it. They also have a Rye and a Whole Grain White. I was able
to find this in our local Safeway store here in CA, and their website
has a store finder for the rest of the country.

Many, many thanks to all who responded to my question about the large
size Udi's--I have received nearly one hundred replies from savvy GF
folks around the nation!

Cheers,

Chris in CA
