Got many interesting responses to my post on marijuana and what was discussed at a graduate level course. There were two camps....those who, in effect, say "wow,,,, thanks for info..I'm passing it on" and the adolescents who said " you can make me stop and I don't believe what you're saying"....too bad

I saw 3 guys go beserk on pot in Korea....they wound up in mental instutions and in the year and a half I was there, they were not released.  Who knows, they may still be there.

Marijuana was introduced into Korea at the same time as the Opium wars in China.  As I walked thru the "village" outside the post, I saw old men being led around with vacant looks on their faces...looked like zombies.  My chief "honcho"..head Korean worker in the Svc Club...said that the younger Korean did not smoke pot..wouldn't go near it because they saw what it did to the older generation

The US govern't started Special Ed in the early 70's to deal with the children of pot smoking GI's from Nam...and possibly Korea.  WE were exposed to angent orange...sprayed in Nam and used on the ground as a weed killer in Korea.  That killed many and caused severe damage in those who survived.  I was a classic cage...got diabetes at age 45, gained 60 lbs in 6 months as my body encapulated the Agent Orange.  I was lucky...if you didn't encapsulate, it destroyed your major organs. My cousin's husband was in Nam the same time I was in Korea..he's been dead for 10 years.  The goern't just admitted this in the past 2 years.  We are entitled to compensation.

As for my into...it came from a govern't scientist on the graduate level.  He said to disregard all the old "studies" of the supposed safety of pot.  He said that those "studies" were done on street pot..college kids were sent in hippie communities to buy pot and came back with dried lawn grass and oregano.  So the govern't grew it's own pot in Mississippi on a secure farm.  That's when the warning started to come out.  We heard the finding before they were printed in JAMA.  

The scariest thing for me was the statement,that altho  it does affect the smoker, the real damage will really hit in the grandkids.  In case you didn't know, pot has an extremely long half-life.  If you smoked pot at age 13, it rests in your brains and sexual organs and will be there until you die.  The damage is cummulative.  

A note to those who think it does no harm.  If you smoke because it helps you deal with your problems or helps you relax, you are so off base.  If you need help in coping, you need counseling.  When you smoke pot, you get high and then you come down and then you stil have to deal with the problems you had before plus a few others.  It's grow up time!! that is certainly not mature behavior and if you don't like what I've said...tough...live with it!
