Could someone please tell me the difference between
celiac disease and gluten intolerance? I went to
a gastroenterologist two years ago who diagnosed me
with celiac disease. I had another doctor look over the
results and he questions the diagnosis for a variety of
reasons. I had never had a gene test because my
original doctor had said that he sees celiac disease
in people who do not carry the gene. This doctor
said that is impossible. He said it would be gluten
intolerance if there is no celiac gene. I had always
thought the terms were synonymous. I have seen
other people post that they had been diagnosed with
celiac disease but then had a negative gene test.
What does this mean? I would really appreciate any
input. I am in the process of having my children tested
and am very concerned about getting a proper diagnosis.

Thank you,
Cathy
