Hi Listies!
July 29, 2002 page S1 (front cover of the Health page) has a feature article
entitled "Gluten-Free May Add to the Quality of Life". It is subtitled:
"Diet * For those with celiac disease, abstaining from wheat is a must" It
is written by Patricia King and is a 'Special to the Times'. Usually this
means that this article may be carried as a special feature in papers across
the country.

You can read it by going to www.LATIMES.com/health but they require you to
log in to read the full text, which gives you a 'cookie' on your computer,
so you may not want to do that.

Thought you would like to know ... and it quotes Dr. Alessio Fassano at U.
of Maryland as saying "the incidence of celiac disease in this country [is]
one in 150"

We have been telling the senators working on the Food Allergen bill that the
incidence is one in 250. So, 1 in 150 should put even MORE pressure on the
senators to support this much needed bill!

Chris
