Hello!

Thanks to all who responded, sorry I could not write
back to everyone, but there were sooo many!! I believe
I will trying tinkyada due to an overwhelming thumbs
up, but will also be trying Bi-Auglut(?) and
Vietnamese noodles! Regarding the 2nd issue, I
received some good suggestions! I had originally asked
if tinkyada was any good and also if anyone else had
problems with fresh summer fruits and veggies.
***
It is the BEST we have tried..they
carry elbows, spirals, lasagna and
spaghetti noodles..it is Good I and my daughter
love it..only thing you must rince it like crazy!

Great in pasta salad!
*******
I have found the best-tasting pastas to be from
Bi-Aglut The combination of corn and rice are more
palatable to me than corn or potato alone.

I suspect that you may have "overdone" on the summer
fruit. Some of the children I care for tend toward
constipation and Watermelon takes care of the problem.

problem. Not only do you have extra fiber, you get a
lot of water.

If I have made a gluten mistake in the recent past, I
have trouble for quite awhile eating fresh fruits &
vegetables. I can tolerate them better if I peel them
and eat them with other foods like rice or as a part
of a whole dinner rather than just by themselves.

After I recovered from a gluten episode, I can at
these foods again.

My non-celiac husband likes the Tinkyada pasta,
whereas he has hated most of the other pastas I've
tried to give him. I've used their rotini for summer
pasta salads to bring to parties, and everyone liked
those, too. They could not believe the noodles were
gluten free!

It could indeed be the fiber in the fruits. Another
possibility is that some fruits are coated with
pesticides, antibiotics, and wax for various reasons.
Sometimes just washing doesn't get all that off, and
that could be upsetting you.

Well, Shirley, everyone at the meeting liked the
Ener-G white rice spaghetti.

Hi! We tried Tinkyada and were not impressed. The
best pasta we've tried is Bi-Aglut (ingredients: corn
starch, rice starch, potato starch, isolated soy
protein, defatted soy flour, mono- and diglycerides)
and I buy it by the case(it's that good!) from
Dietary Specialties. It is really very close to
glutenful pasta. Also regarding your diarrhea..
fruits have a lot of acid in them and I know if I eat
too much I get rashes and loose stools, so you might
want to cut back just a little even though they really
taste good in the summer. Good luck!

Although I have tolerated the gf pasta's and learned
not to over cook them, I absolutely love the Tinkyada
pasta. This is the closest to the wheat pasta in
texture and taste I found. The Gluten-Free Pantry
carries these I believe, but I was able to have my
local health food store order a bunch for me. This
pasta holds up pretty well for pasta salad. I highly
recommend it.

Overall once I became gluten-free I became normal in
the bathroom department(finally!)

I have tried Tinkyada pasta and found that, all though
it was alright it semi constipated me.

One thing I have found that I like is Pastato brand
Mac and cheese. It's made from potato flour, gf and
is the closest thing to Kraft dinner there is. I
found it at the local health food store. If you get
in the mood for gf junk food, this stuff will satisfy.

As for the fruit, I can't eat anything except bananas
without getting the trots. I take Metamucil, tsp in
the morning and tbsp at night.

Really helps with overactive bowels.
*******
My kids are avid pasta lovers and newly gluten free.
My daughter loves Food for Life's rice elbows-I think
she likes mush! Recently I bought 2 boxes of
Lundberg's pasta. She loved both-the rice penne and
the rice spirals(or twists). My son likes Mrs.
Leepers rice spaghetti.
*******
I was first diagnosed with celiac in 1951, long time
ago! I love the tinkyada pasta, it is even good
reheated but I try very hard not to by the tinkyada
pasta that states with rice bran -- too too much
rufferage! Also a nutritionist once told me that for
someone with digestive disorders the quantity of raw
(heavy rufferage) should be watched and try to eat
more vegetables that are cooked even if they are just
lightly steamed, fruit is harder but often easier to
digest if the skins are removed.
*********
yes, I find that I have much looser bm's and more
frequently. And like you, I find most all of the
pastas disgusting. I am eating mostly fresh vegs and
fruits and rice and gf cereals. I am a vegetarian as
well, so no meat.

Glad to know I'm not the only one experiencing this.
*******
I think the Bi-Aglut pasta is pretty terrific. It's
as close to the real thing as I've found. In fact, my
husband (who wouldn't touch gf food as a rule) thinks
it's really good & so I only have to cook one kind.
You can get it from www.glutensolutions.com in
different types (lasagna, spaghetti, fusilli, etc.)
******

We eat rice noodles from the vietnamese shop and turn
them into anything and everything. They are very
light and pick up the flavor of whatever you put with
it. We even make spaghetti out of it and they only
take 3 to 5 minutes to cook.
***
I had the same problem and I think narrowed it down to
watermelon.

Since then, I have read in Bette Haggemens newest book
that she also had a problem with watermelon after
going gf. Perhaps it is one of the fruits.

I finally headed my GIs advice and am taking Metumucil
every night. It stopped the loose bowel movements.
*******
Could be because on the diet you're actually digesting
all of the foods you are eating.
