Thanks for all of the responses...and there were many. Nearly all confirmed
what the company told me last week....that Prevacid is safe. One person said
Nexium is all that works for her, and she'll take it despite knowing it is
not gf. (Don't beat me up on that one.) Another person said it's the sugar
source that is not gf in Nexium.

Another contributed that the doctor said to eliminate 5 things to
help my heartburn:  caffeine, acidic foods, chocolate, high fat foods, and
stress.

Another response:Prevacid can cause loose stools. Nexium contains gluten
according to the archives.  I would not trust it.  They changed me from Axid
to Aciphex and it works great.  And they state it is gluten-free right on
their website.
Has no common side effects.

More than one vouched for aciphex or acifex (spelling) as being gf and
effective.

Back to my voice...one increasing problem I am having is my drugstore (CVS)
is very prone to substituting generics...and has stopped carrying many of the
orginal meds that I have been given before. On rare occasion, the pharmacist
will cooperate and contact the producer to see if the generic is gf.
Otherwise, even if my doctor writes "no substitutions," I sometimes am forced
to go elsewhere. Luckily, Stokes Pharmacy is within driving
distance...assuming you don't feel too ill to drive. We need to expand our
list to generics, not just namebrand meds. Thanks to all who contributed.
