Got a few questions that I was unable to find any information in the
archives or inforamtional files.

My 8 year old is the diagnosed celiac. I have two additional children
ages 11 & 2.

Since I have been keeping my 2 yr old gf, the pediatrician wanted to
test her to see if she had celiac but being gf the antibody tests would
not indicate anything, so instead the Dr.did HLA-DR testing.
My son who is celiac has a DR7 and I don't remember what else (I believe
that DR7 is one of the markers for celiac.) My other two children have
DR103 and DR1 / DR103 and DR14. Knowing this, and what I can remember
reading that the DR types associated with CD are DR3, DR4, DR5, DR7 and
DR8 is there anyway that they can develop CD? In other words, is it safe
for them to eat gluten?

She went a step farther and wanted to see where the DR7 came from and it
was me. Should I have further tests (antibody)? I think that I have a
lactose intolerance but that seems to be my only symptom except for
thyroid problems.

Thanks in advance for your help,
Michele in MD
