Hi folks, I'm new to the group and in the process of being diagnosed.
This is my first question to you all. My doctor, an allergist, ordered
the blood work for me, at my insistence, (Antigliadin AB Anti-endo
Mysial AB). My problem is that he does not know how to interpret the
results so he gave me a copy. He really wasn't willing to go any
further because he told me I AM a Celiac and there was no need to get a
test. I know there is a need to go further because I have many family
members in health crisis and no one has ever been diagnosed or thought
of Celiac. My doctor is a Celiac and has been diagnosed for many years
and I suspect comes from the Old School ...just don't eat it. I have
known I am allergic to gluten for 13 years but ate it occasionally
thinking it wasn't harming me that much, I ate it when I was already
feeling lousy, you know, the what difference does it make now attitude.
I deal with Celiacs all week. I work In a health food store that
carries a large selection of GF foods. I never knew all the symptoms of
celiac until my boss went to the convention here in Providence this
year. They came back with the book Coping with Celiac and I read my
life history! I have called another doctor and they told me that I
will have to pay $300. to see the doctor and have him read this result.
I can't get in to see the doctor that was recommended so I would have to
see someone that I haven't heard of before. I absolutely do not trust
doctors any more and I need to find one in Rhode Island that any of you
might recommend. In the meantime is there anyone out there that can give
me a clue what these test results mean? Thanks in advance for your
help.
