Original Post: Does someone know of a really good brand of shampoo and creme rinse that is
gluten free that is very moisturizing? I live in MN and it is very dry here in
the winter!

Summary:

One person said “Unless you plan to eat or drink something, you don't need to worry if a product's gluten free.” I thought this when I was initially diagnosed but as I became more sensitive I found that this was absolutely not true! As much as I wish it was the case! After about two years I started reacting to something, couldn’t figure out anything in my food source and low and behold I switched shampoo and bingo, symptoms went away. If I don’t bring my own shampoo to the hairdresser, I have a bad day!

Desert Essence organics "thickening" or "shine" conditioners and shampoos. They say gluten free right on the bottle, I get them at Whole Foods.

Pantene shampoo and conditioner is great

Paul Mitchell Instant Moisture shampoo and conditioner is GF and it's good stuff. You can e-mail Paul Mitchell and they'll send you a list of their products that don't contain gluten. Instant Moisture is what I use.

I use a Neutrogena deep conditioner that comes in a little amber color tub. It is marvelous for the off-and-on deep moisturizing and it is gf.
I like the L'Oreal Vive shampoos--I know the kind for color treated dry hair is gf and it is very nice. The Vive conditioner is nice for daily use too. I tend to have dry hair and dry skin and live in ID where it is very dry too.
I use a Castile shampoo (pure soap) and Sauvé conditioner and I don't have any trouble with them.

http://www.aubrey-organics.com/ Perhaps this could be a resource.

I've just bought Dove Moisturizing Shampoo and Conditioner.
From what I understand, Dove lists any wheat, rye, barley, and oats carefully.

Our daughter uses Suave aloe shampoo because it is mild, and Pantene conditioner. I never liked cream rinses but have started using Pantene's because it has a mild scent and leaves your hair still feeling clean. My hair is brittle and I feel it has helped.

I just found this line of shampoos and conditioners called Pureology. It's sulfite-free, vegan, gluten free (from what I can tell), and I just bought the stuff and used it and I LOVE IT! I've been trying to find some good salon quality hair stuff that I can use and this stuff is awesome. They have a website. Any beauty supply place in your area will carry it.

We love the Dove shampoos. The one in the dark blue bottle is for very dry hair. My boys swim a couple of hours a day -- including our celiac child and it is wonderful.
I love the Jonathan products...I luck out and find it at Costco occasionally. Mostly at Ulta, Sephora or Amazon.com. On Amazon you can read the ingredients and notice it is Gluten Free! I use the Shampoo Weightless Smooth no-frizz cleansing crème, the conditioner, moisture balm and hairspray....great GF line. I have curly & processed hair in North Idaho so I love the moisture I get from it.
I also emailed Redkin and Loreal and they sent me a list of gluten containing items in their products. They must be the same company (?) because the ingredient lists were identical!
