i came very close from not being able to go to sweden, leaving on a
flight in the morning, and as i had to renew my passport very
suddenly, and i'm on a ticket that would be hard to change or cancel,
well, as of 4;15pm today no passport... yikes, what to do... cancel
the car rental..., try and cancel the flight..., keep busy and hope
the darn thing shows up, when to make the final cut off time so i
don't have to pay for things i'm not going to be able to use, my son
flies out tonight, i'll wait till 8pm tonight to make any
decisions.... but at 4;25, fed-ex pulls up, ye-haw, my passport, i
can go!!!

so it seems from all who responded, sweden is the place to be, gluten
free food everywhere, even mcdonalds in stockholm, just have to ask
for gluten free when ordering or buying. here is a good contact...

food should available in most stores and eating out seems fairly
easy, lotsa english spoken there, but you should try and learn a few
swedish words.

i'm not even trying to get food on the flight over and back, just
gunna eat before i go and have a few things with me. traveling is
always a challenge for me, i don't eat out very often, even in
fairbanks, and i know this town. going somewhere new, puts a fair
level of anxiety in the whole situation and travelling by myself
makes it harder, because when i crash from bad food, its not a pretty
sight, and i uasually need someone to kinda help me thru it, but for
some reason, i'm not very worried about sweden, even adding in the
fact that i really don't have places to stay yet, just gunna wing it
and keep up with the ski team, i am bringing along a sleeping bag and
pad incase i don't find anything and have to sleep on the floor with
the ski team folks.

i'm actually looking forward to all that is new to me in sweden. we
went to mccall, idaho last year for the jr nationals, and i think i
will look back and think that it was a harder place to deal with food
than sweden.

so for all those planning a trip to sweden, just do it and have a great time!

see ya, dick.
