Summary: Appetizer ideas

Thanks to all 30 plus who responded with easy party food ideas.

I've got a great idea file now!

Many suggested bringing my own rice crackers or Torengos, and hit the buffet line early to avoid contamination, and don't go too hungry.

Here is a list, in no particular order:

Deviled eggs

Ham/pickle/cream cheese roll-ups

Salsa and corn chips

Cocktail hotdogs in a sauce made with Heinz Cocktail sauce, and grape jelly served warm

Veggies with red pepper and garlic mayonnaise

Veggies with spinach dip

Shrimp or lobster with cocktail sauce (can also serve with cream cheese)

Hummus

Guacamole

French onion soup dip

Hot artichoke dip

Rumaki (bacon wrapped around water chestnuts, or pineapple, or scallops, broiled)

7 layer taco dip with chips

Ajvar in Mediterranean food stores - a GF puree of roasted mild (or hot) red peppers, eggplant and garlic. Great with veggies or rice crackers

Little red new potatoes, sliced in half, boiled until tender in salted water, and scooped out with a melon-baller. Then she put a mound of sour cream in each one (you could use yogurt or if you're dairy-intolerant, silky tofu, extra soft) and topped it with a little bit of caviar. She didn't use the real expensive stuff, but just the kind that comes in little jars in the supermarket. It comes in black, red, and golden colored types, and is both colorful and tasty on the potato and sour cream! You don't need much for a big taste!

Chex mix with fake chex

Nut mix with dried cranberries and chocolate chips

Chebe bread with marinara sauce for dipping

Chebe bread with cheese and sausage mixed in

Freshly popped popcorn

Assorted nuts

Assorted olives

Marinated mushrooms

Gougere (popovers made with cheese)

Cherry tomatoes, or cucumbers, scooped out and stuffed with cream cheese and shrimp or dip

Mini meatballs

Energ pretzels

Peanuts in the shell

Pickles

Potato wedges

TGI Fridays Hot Wings and potato skins (in the frozen foods section of supermarkets)

Crabmeat mixed with cocktail sauce, poured over cream cheese

Cherry tomatoes stuffed with guacamole

Mushrooms stuffed with crabmeat

Teriyaki shrimp (marinate shrimp in gf soy sauce, sherry and honey) wrap with bacon and grill or broil
