When I'm "glutenated", besides feeling like crap, my mental status gets strangely twisted -- I get foggy brained, confused, depressed and oddly impulsive. Once while under the influence I bought a skirt that I knew was too large. I took it home & tried, while still in a stupor, to alter it to fit. It ended up so tight I could hardly zip it. Rather than correct it, I broke down in sobs & threw it in the trash. This is NOT like me at all. I'm generally careful w/ money & a very skilled seamstress who carefully sticks w/ any sewing project until it's "just right." Another time, on a crazy glutonic impulse, I ordered a rediculously expensive pair of prescription glasses that I didn't even need from an optical department that I'd never done business w/ before. Another time, while under the influence, I called the director of an orchestra & told her I couldn't play the concert because I didn't want the younger horn player to feel bad because I got to play more than her. OH PLEASE!!!!

In each instance, when I finally "come to", I'm terribly embarrassed by my behavior, but also relieved to know that gluten was a major contributing factor.

Has anyone else done goofy things like this or experienced personality changes while under the influence of gluten?

Valerie
