Today I received an interesting call from my GI Dr.

She said that my biopsies came back negative for sprue.

However, my blood tests, taken two weeks prior to procedure came back
"strongly positive"!

ALSO...during the procedure, my Dr. said she saw sprue through the
camera. In addition there are flattening and folding of my villi or
lining. Everything else appeared fine.

After the procedure, the Dr. told my family, verbally and by writing
that there was evidence of sprue and to go see a dietician for Celiac
Disease. Then she sent the biopsies off.

From the day of the procedure until today, 10 days, I have eating
gluten-free. I haven't had one incident of diarrhea or the massive
cramping that I normally would have on a very frequent basis.

But I must mention that I still feel dizzy, a little anxious, and often
overwhelmed by nausea at times.

ALSO....the "simple" gastroscopy (forgive my spelling) landed me in the
E.R. the following day. Apparently, my body is overly sensitive too all
the injections they gave me to sedate me. I also couldn't eat for a
couple of days.

I am really feel down and frustrated about the outcome of the biopsies.
The Dr. said that there is a possibility that the sprue is "patchy" and
that she didn't get a biopsy from any of the patches.

I don't know what to think. She advised me to stay gf for two months
then have a blood test.

Can any of you relate to any of this? Please let me know...any advice,
comments, anything...would be helpful.

Thank you!
