Dear Listmates,

Some of the viewers of this listserv would like to eat quinoa because it it
high in protein and fiber, but they find it tastes "soapy", bland or both.
The soapy sensation may be a result of not enough rinsing - don't use it
straight out of the package. The grain comes with natural anti-eat-me bird
repellent. And the lack of flavor - well, that is just one of the charms of
quinoa. Our quinoa is not soapy because Hallie rinses it thoroughly. But we
get a bit tired of bland quinoa, even when it is made with broth and stock.
This became a household challenge: make quinoa interesting. So here is
Hallie's recipe for interesting and flavorful quinoa - have it sing a duet
with lentils, another sometimes maligned food. You can navigate to the
website and scroll way down until you see <NEW> in red letters:
http://tinyurl.com/2vdggw ( http://home.comcast.net/~vhdolcourt/gfbaking/).

This food is loaded with protein and fiber. And the best part of the recipe
is that you don't have to follow it exactly. There is lots of room for
improv.

Please let us know if you have questions.

Vic & Hallie - Sunnyvale, CA
