Tri-Boron Plus contains calcium, vitamin D, etc. If you take 2 capsules
after each meal, that's 6 a day total, that should be enough.

Unforunately, for me, it wasn't enough vitamin D, and I now have to take a
bit more D.

However, I also have to take something to slow bone loss. By itself,
Tri-Boron plus and Vitamin D just don't do the job, even though I teach Yoga
for Osteoporosis and do yoga daily, and walk a mile each day.

I use Miacalcin nasal spray, a prescription that is not related to
biphosphonates.

However, I can't eat or drink milk products.

My husband has low bone density and on the suggestion of a woman on this
list has taken Tri Boron Plus for 2 years. His bone density has NOT
improved and has further decreased 12 %.
He has now added increased Vitamin D to his regimen......no other cause has
been found for his lower values. He eats a very healthy diet of lots of
fresh fruits, vegetables, lean meat, etc. and does weight training with a
trainer at a local gym.
His doctor is pushing Fosomax but he is also concerned about the side
effects.

I also have osteoporosis of the spine and osteopenia of the hips and have
chosen to take Evista rather than bisphosphonates since I have lots of
ongoing dental problems. I take regular calcium and now added vitamin D,
magnesium, etc. For 12 years I remained stable on hormone replacement but
doctors no longer want to write for these meds.

We are both hoping for better BMDs this year.

There was a speaker recently at the Nashville celiac support group, who
pointed out that many physicians prescribe Fosomax, etc. and Vit. D. levels
are seldom checked in connection with osteoporosis. He's an
endocrinologist, who is celiac himself. He recommended quite a high intake
- more than the daily 400 that is in most preparations.
