That may have been me. As a person who is hypersensitive to msg in all it's
forms (it gives me 6 week migraines), I have had to learn a lot about it,
mostly from the NOMSG society.  HVP is, without a doubt, MSG.  It may only
contain a percentage of MSG, but who cares how much!  As to the gluten
part, the problem is that HVP may come from all sorts of sources...when I
call manufacturers, they usually say...we don't know what each batch is
made from, we just order the most cost effective brand.  When a
manufacturer gets cagey on me, I tend to get nervous about that product.
 
So even if it is not a gluten product, who needs it anyhow?
